Carlo Ratti is a practicing architect who directs the MIT SENSEable City Laboratory – a new research initiative between the Media Lab and the Department of Urban Studies and Planning. He graduated in structural engineering at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy, and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussees, Paris. He later completed a PhD and an MPhil at the University of Cambridge Department of Architecture. He is a Junior Fellow of the Aspen Institute and a regular contributor of articles on architecture to Domus, Casabella and the leading Italian newspapers La Stampa and Il Sole 24 Ore (Domenica).
